Eating healthy food doesn’t have to be difficult, or expensive! There seems to be a myth that eating healthy plant-based foods costs a lot. Although this can be the case, there are many healthy options that are very inexpensive and taste great!

Do vegans get enough protein?

If I had a dollar for every time someone asked me where I get my protein, I’d have a lot of dollars.

I feel like there are a lot of simple answers to this question, such as:

Plants have protein, or simply…
Beans.

However, there seems to be such a misconception that vegans are lacking in protein, so I thought I’d write a full blog post about it. Maybe you’re wondering if all vegans are protein deficient. Or maybe you’re thinking of starting a vegan diet, but you want to make sure that you will get enough protein.

First, let’s be clear. Following whole food, plant-based vegan diet has been proven not only safe but beneficial. Both the American Dietetic Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics (aka not vegan organizations) state that well-planned vegan diets are both safe and can have health benefits. Self care ideas for busy moms

What is self-care?

Self-care has been somewhat of a buzzword (phrase? buzzphrase?) lately. Self-care is simply doing things to take care of your mental, emotional or physical health. The idea of self-care can look different for everyone, but it isn’t something that should be ignored.

Self-care isn’t just being selfish either. It isn’t only considering your own needs and ignoring anyone else. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Taking care of yourself, whether mentally, physically or emotionally, puts you in a better place to take care of others. Obviously, this is something that is incredibly important for moms.

Self-care for moms doesn’t have to mean a week-long tropical vacation or a full spa day (although those things sound nice) it can be something as simple as taking 20 minutes to read a magazine that you enjoy.

How to lose weight on a vegan diet

I reconsidered writing this post for a few years. First, I do not believe that weight loss always = health. Second, I also don’t like using the word “diet.” When you use the word diet, it sounds like a temporary fix. Almost any diet works, if you stick with it. The problem is that diets are short-term solutions. What you really need to do is figure out something that you can stick with long-term. Fortunately, a plant-based vegan lifestyle is very sustainable, is very healthy, is better for the environment and reduces factory farming.

All of that being said, many people are struggling with their weight and looking for a solution. So, can you lose weight on a vegan diet?
